We were participating in the traditional annual New Year's Day Paddle on Cedar Creek. Some of the regulars told us that there were about 80 canoes on the river that day and that it was the coldest New Year's Day on record.
At the put-in we met Santa Claus, who had traded his sleigh for a red canoe after the holidays.
